Recommendations and comments are discussed on the draft law on tax administration and procedures

Prishtina, January 16, 2019 – The Society of Certified Accountants and Auditors of Kosovo (SCAAK) in cooperation with the American Chamber of Commerce in Kosovo organized a roundtable discussion with businesses and professional accountants to discuss on comments and recommendations regarding the Draft Law on Tax Administration and Procedures which foresees essential amendments in comparison to the preceding law.

Head of Quality Control Department – SCAAK, Arber Hoti, informed the participants on the amendments that are foreseen within this draft law in regards to tax declarations, self-assessment, payment, interest, credits, refunds, etc. He also presented SCAAK recommendations which aim on facilitating business operations as well as the clarification of certain articles within the tax legislation.

Chairperson of AmCham Tax Committee, Gresë Rexhepi, mentioned, amongst others, the establishment of the Board of Complaints which will help businesses in regards to considering their complaints and responding within 30 days. She said that transparency within this institution would be even higher with the publication of decisions made from the Board in this regard. She added that the foreseen amendments for the draft law on tax administration and procedures are a crucial step in tax legislation, however, certain issues require further clarification.

Whereas, Chairperson of the Tax Committee, SCAAK, Fahri Breznica, said that the other important issues that require our attention should also be the taxpayers rights, the Tax Administration approach to them, as well as the documentation of control reports findings.
