SCAAK part of the Annual Meeting of the Council of the International Federation of Accounting and Auditing (IFAC)

The President of the Board of SCAAK, Mr. Nazmi Pllana together with the Executive Director, Mrs. Ardiana Bunjaku are currently participating in the International Federation of Accounting (IFAC) Council meeting taking place in Vienna, Austria on November 15-16, 2023.

The gathering commenced with a warm welcome from IFAC President Asmâa Resmouki, who provided insights into the latest advancements within IFAC. President Resmouki also presented recommendations regarding the election of the Board and the approval of Nominating Committee Membership. Subsequently, the meeting featured reports from various leadership structures within IFAC.

IFAC announced its newest Board member and several reappointments to the Board this week. With these changes, IFAC will maintain a female-majority Board for the fifth consecutive year:

New IFAC Board appointments:

• Khalilullah Shaikh (The Institute of Chartered Accountant of Pakistan, Pakistan)

IFAC Board Reappointments:

• Atul Gupta (The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, India)
• Kohei Kan (The Japanese Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Japan)
• Chiara Mio (The Consiglio Nazionale dei Dottori Commercialisti e degli Esperti Contabili, Italy)
• Taryn Rulton (Chartered Accountants Australia & New Zealand, Australia)

In addition to the election of new Board members, the IFAC Council also approved new member and associate member organizations.

New IFAC Members:

• Ordem dos Contabilistas e Auditores de Moçambique (OCAM) – Mozambique
• Palestinian Association of Certified Public Accountants (PACPA) – Palestine

New Associates:

• Namibia Institute for Professional Accountants (NIPA) – Namibia

The meeting’s agenda includes a series of leadership programming sessions encompassing the following topics:

• Sustainability
• Attractiveness of the Profession
• The United Nations Convention Against Corruption and the Accountancy Profession
• Elevating the Global Voice of the Profession in Audit, Assurance, and Ethics Standard Setting
• Artificial Intelligence in the Profession
