Overview:
Since 2009 when the first Blockchain technology is introduced by Satoshi Nakamoto, these revolutionary networks have gained popularity in both the corporate and governmental sectors. This growth is easily explained when you consider that blockchain technology provides the world with some unique advantages that were previously unimaginable: ledgers that are transparent, immutable, and unalterable through the use of decentralization and cryptography.
Decentralization is an important aspect of blockchain technology because it makes these revolutionary ledgers immutable and unalterable. In fact, since there is no centralized attack vector, compromising a blockchain is nearly impossible. The larger the blockchain network, the more secure the data on it remains.
Built as a ledger system, it is no wonder that blockchain technology is rapidly disrupting the accounting and finance industries. Digital assets (or cryptoassets / cryptocurrencies) – the most common of which is Bitcoin – are increasingly being used around the world. The direct and peripheral businesses which facilitate the digital asset space offer significant opportunity for business development, Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), and job creation to the economies which embrace the digital era.
